2. Which part to use?

Al-Kitaab Series (3rd edition) consists of three main books:

- Alif Baa: Arabic Alphabet (Check out this option here: Arabic from Scratch)

- Part 1

- Part 2

Which book to use and where to start will be determined during your placement interview*.

3. Learning Objectives

After completing Part 1 with The Arabiker, you are expected to reach the Intermediate Mid level (or higher, depending on your self-study efforts).

After completing Part 2 with The Arabiker, you are expected to reach the Intermediate High level (or higher, depending on your self-study efforts).

4. Prerequisites

- For Part 1: Completion of the Arabic Alphabet.

- For Part 2: Completion of Part 1 OR an Intermediate Mid level proficiency in Arabic.

5. Course & Classes Format

- Book-based course: Structured around a core textbook.

- Live classes: Interactive sessions conducted in real-time*.

- Flipped classroom: Designed to maximize language practice during class time*.

What is a Flipped Classroom? A flipped classroom approach shifts direct instruction outside of class. Students review lecture materials or information before class, allowing in-class time to focus on activities that promote higher-order thinking and active language use.

6. Access and Availability

For Live Classes option: As long as learners maintain a continuous class schedule, they will have 24/7 access to their LMS course and tech-driven exercises.

What is a “Continuous Class Schedule”? It means completing at least 1 contact hour per week. If learners do not adhere to this schedule, they may lose access to the LMS course.

For Self-Study option (Independent Learner): As long as learners paid for their subscription, they will have 24/7 access to their LMS course and tech-driven exercises.

If learners do not pay for their subscription, they may lose access to the LMS course.

7. Technical Requirements

- Stable Internet Connection: Essential for uninterrupted learning and video calls.

- Device and Software: A laptop or similar device to access course materials, participate in video calls and engage with tech-driven exercises.

- Video Conferencing Tool: Required for live classes and interactions.

8. Course Duration*

The duration of each part varies depending on individual pace, personal differences and the amount of self-study. However, here is a general estimate:

- Part 1: Consists of 13 chapters. It typically requires 80-100 contact hours to complete.

- Part 2: Consists of 10 chapters. It typically requires 100-120 contact hours to complete.

9. Arabic Register*

We are happy to tailor our classes to focus on the Arabic register that best suits your needs. However, we highly recommend following the structure of Al-Kitaab Series, which is designed to develop a comprehensive understanding of both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and a spoken dialect (either Levantine or Egyptian).
